The House of Savoy, rulers of Turin, introduced cherry cultivation in the 17th century as a lure for the birds they hunted. Later, the Camaldolese hermits helped popularize the fruit, using it to make jams and liqueurs. Duroni cherries, known as Graffion in Piedmontese, are a more recent variety, with larger fruits and firmer flesh. Duroni cherries 82.39%, sugar 15.31%. No thickeners or artificial additives. Excellent for breakfast and suitable for garnishing biscuits and tarts. They stay firm and chunky, naturally resembling the fruit.
